The St. Lucius Church eco group have uncovered the grave of Rev. Cutfield Wardroper in the churchyard.

Rev. Wardroper lived from 1815-1906, and was vicar at St. Lucius from 1848-1899. He was renowned for riding round his parish on a white horse, and the eco-group would approve of his choice of a wicker coffin, which he commissioned long before his death!

Members of St. Lucius' Church and the eco group are hoping to raise money to restore his grave, so that the inscriptions are legible.

You can read more of his fascinating story here on the Huddersfield Exposed website.
