On Tuesday 16th February thirteen intrepid walkers of all ages met in the village centre for our first Community Walk. We were blessed with a bright, sunny day (but cold!) and set off from the Golden Cock at 10.00 am, walking up to the recreation ground, through the Community Garden and into Brockholes Lane. There we turned right down Ludhill Lane and followed the footpaths down the hill into Gynn Lane in Honley. From here we turned right along a track which eventually took us up into Hey Wood and out onto the road by the "glass house". From here we went over to Farnley Hey hamlet, down the footpath through very muddy fields, and from there back up through the fields to Cliffe Lane. As it was 12.00 noon, and pub opening time, some of us fell through the door there, while others went home to clean off the dogs! A fabulous morning!
Popular presenter Harry Gration and weatherman Paul Hudson arrive in Farnley Tyas on the afternoon of Saturday 12th March on their "three counties on three legs" walk for Sports Relief. Dozens of villagers turned out to greet them and young triathlete superstar Bailey Matthews. What stars they all are!
